As stated earlier, we are a very experienced team and try to do as many rooms as possible without receiving hints, and every other location we've been to won't give you hints unless you've explicitly asked for them. Once inside the room, the game host was continually giving us hints on puzzles that we were actively progressing through and not asking for hints on, stripping us of the experience of actually coming to our own solutions. It came across as very superior and that they didn't care about the puzzles and solutions within. When we were being taken back into the room, the game host proclaimed that "you can use your cellphones here and take pictures inside the room, because our rooms are very awesome inside". Our evening began with our start time being delayed (because another team was still in the room apparently), which forced me to go put more time on my parking to avoid getting a ticket. It seemed like they genuinely didn't care about how the customers experience turned out. Our biggest complaints about the experience as a group, however, can be linked to the staff.

This scenario was very serial in its progression, meaning only a few people were able to do anything at a given time while the rest were standing around, waiting. This set-up allows all the players to work on something and contribute to the final solution. Most locations have a number of parallel puzzles when you first enter a room, that all converge into a larger puzzle near the end. The lack of puzzle flow was also made very apparent due to the room size. While the location itself is technically wheelchair accessible, it would be quite difficult to navigate inside the room with one, so it is not wheelchair feasible in my opinion. Since this is a location where random players could also book the room and enter with your party, this is a very important factor in my mind. We had done it with 7, and there were times where a few of us were literally pushed into corners, unable to even interact with other puzzles or players based on the spacing in the room.

This scenario is listed as being a room for 8. They include the room size, puzzle flow, and staff involvement/overall experience. The cons vastly outweigh the pros in this scenario, however.

The design of the room that we had done (Scarab) was above average and utilized a theme (Egyptian) that is not already saturated in other rooms/locations. Therefore, it's fairly accessible for both driving in to West Hartford and pedestrian access from the city center. The location is pretty prime, being right in Blue Back Square and adjacent to some ample parking options. I'll start with the pros - location and design. It has some highlights, but overall, it is in my opinion that the downfalls make it a location to pass on, with so many other great locations in a rather close travel distance. The group that I did this room with has done many escape/puzzle rooms together (well over 30 at this point), and this one certainly falls short of average.
